Thank you for taking the time to consider our work. Throughout our seven year existence, we have received many inquiries for items we are not able to offer. We can appreciate one's interest in seeking a fine quality leather case for their particular need. That is what we are about - producing the finest quality case for classic cameras. However there is a narrow scope of what we are able to do. Sometimes it's technical, other times it's economics. A recent article in a photo magazine indicated we are able to do more than we actually can. We were unable to proof read the article before it was locked. SO to avoid having to explain over and over, take a moment to learn where our limitations are. TLR cases - We hear mostly from Rolleiflex afficionados. I understand the need for this case. However this is a design problem for us. We tried and it didn't work; too many variations between the TLR models and no clear consensus on the right design. Finding hardware was also problematic. SLR cases - We can only make cases for rangefinder cameras. The prism is the main problem here. It is a technical matter in how we structure and assemble cases. Also, we need a flat top. The lens snout must also be a separate piece which attaches to the front of the case. SLR's are larger and this creates concerns due to built in hand gripes, motor drives and larger lens. Medium Format cameras - Again, the problem is size. The largest we can go is the Hasselblad Xpan or Leica M5. We did toy with making a half case however we never had the opportunity due to all the orders we have for cases we do offer. One-off designs - There are many fine classic rangefinder cameras. Unfortunately we can not make cases for all of them. Voigtlander, for example, has a host of great cameras. Maybe we received one request in five years. To have a special case for someone's Prominent II, would be a difficult undertaking for us. There is considerable expense in the mold and pattern making for a suitable prototype. Unless we can be assured of number of orders, it would unwise for us to expend the necessary time and resources to develop the case. We have a very narrow window of the type of camera that fits our profile. After five years, we've got a good indication of what they are. Repairs - Most people don't realize how difficult repairs usually are. Worn out leather is like a cancer, it is hard to get it all. Patching up old leather with new leather never really works for us. You might have luck going to a shoe repair store that advertises "Leather repair." Explain carefully what you are looking for and ask for an explanation to their approach. This is dicey however it can work with good result. On some older cases, worn out stitching must be done by hand and is costly. Also a search on the Net for "Leather repair" may yield results. Camera Bags - Very time consuming and no consensus for the ideal bag. There are also many good bags out there for us to compete with. Our niche is the hard ever-ready case with a few belt pouch cases on the side. We realize there are many of you looking for quality leatherwork. We started this venture not sure of what we might achieve; after all, this type of leather craft is rare. If it were possible to do more, we would. We take great pride and satisfaction with the cases we offer. I only wish there were a way to do more for those who have the same appreciation for quality as we do. Thank you. George |
